Discover Your Unique Body Type
Fashion designers, stylists and simple admirers of feminine beauty have tried to define the archetype of the ideal woman. Some preferred the "maternal" type with generous breast, full of vitality, characterized by tenderness, spirit of sacrifice and stability.Others preferred the volcanic "restless" type, with firm features, with daring and clearly defined breast, with burning temperament. Lately, appears a preference for the "ethereal" woman with a fragile, supple appearance, with a delicate outlined breast.
Nowadays predilection is given to anorexic women, with a transparent body, with a lost look - an obvious disharmonized type, but which emphasizes a certain deviation in psychical health and attitudes of those who prefer it.
This recent trend drove millions of women to diets of starve, that ruin in equal measure the appearance and the mental sanity.
What shall we do?
In order to avoid such errors it’s severely necessary to realize that every woman has a certain constitutional type, which is genetically inscribed in her genetic heritage and can not be changed by shocks of aberrant diets.
What is a "constitutional type"?
A constitutional type, according to the English explanatory dictionary, is a classification of individuals based on physical characteristics or body constitution or on an asserted relationship between physical characteristics and a tendency to either suffer from a disease or have other characteristics.
In other words a constitutional type is a mix of certain characteristics. The differences between these fundamental types occur at physical, psychic and mental levels. By noticing these differences the practitioner of traditional medicine, the homeopaths and the psychologists have tried to decipher the fundamental types.
Nature has done a great work for us, because every constitutional type it’s unique and has its charm, its beauty.
Be conscious that your appearance is only one of its kinds!
Why then are we following so many wrong ideas concerning the standards of intelligence, beauty or health?
The theory
For being able to define different human constitutions we need to know which “bricks” lay at the basis of our being.
Thousands of years ago therapists discovered three essential structures, three subtle vital forces that are present in every creature in a distinct ratio.
According to the millenary science named Ayurveda, the five fundamental elements that make up the universe- space (akasha), air (vayu), fire (agni), water (apu) and earth (prithvi)- also make up the human physiology.
Combinations of two of these elements make up doshas.
The first one, in Sanskrit Vata dosha, is made up of space and air.
The second one, Pitta dosha, is a combination of fire and water.
The third one, Kapha dosha, is made up of water and earth.
The combination of the three doshas that you inherit at conception is called your original constitution (Prakriti in Ayurveda).
Let's make an analogy
For an easy comprehension of the principle exhibited in Ayurveda we will make an analogy with the way that a coloured image is built on the screen of a TV-set.
Let’s take a look at the TV screen.
If we sit comfortably in an armchair, just watching our favourite show, we will see precise and, well outlined shapes, figures, and objects.
Now let’s get close enough, so that we can notice the images that are scrolled on the screen.
We can clearly observe how images are formed from a multitude of points of little size, which are “lighted up" with different intensities.
Each point is actually made of 3 smaller points of different colors, if referring specifically to a color TV-set (generally red, green, blue -RGB). When they are lighted up with different intensities the proper points of the 3 colors form a certain specific color of the visible spectrum.
Our eyes perceive this process globally, so that we see coloured images instead of coloured points.
Exactly as in this analogy, our being is composed from 3 subtle forces that through combination in different proportions create the multiple forms and “colors of the body, of the soul and mind.
There are a lot of derived body types out of the three Ayurvedic fundamental types. The different ratio in the combination of the three fundamental types determines all constitutions.
Pitta women have Kapha Dosha and Vata Dosha in their structure
Each so-called pure constitutional type is determined by the preponderant presence of a DOSHA in a person. For example, the pure Kapha type is determined by the Kapha Dosha element, though Pitta and Vata Dosha are also present in the structure of the person in discussion, yet in smaller proportions.
So, even a pure Pitta type will have Kapha Dosha and Vata Dosha in her structure, but in smaller proportions.
It is possible for a person to have a mental prototype corresponding to a certain constitutional type and the psychic and physical structure corresponding to another.
For example, there are women, typically Kapha from the physical point of view, who talk much and are outward, which are Vata characteristics, and whose mind is yet capable of following clearly and precisely certain aims, typical for Pitta body type.
What for?
Each constitution type has particular strengths and susceptibilities.
Determining, even approximately, our constitutional type help us to balance the three subtle forces. Factors such as the dietary choices we make, the lifestyle we lead, the climate where we live, levels of environmental pollution, the work we do, the nature of our relationships with people and even just the passage of time can cause an imbalance, a deviation of our original constitution.
If this imbalance is not corrected, we eventually lose our good health. That's why restoring balance is the central theme of the Ayurvedic approach to health.
